Audi ECU remapping & tuning files

Engineer-written calibrations for Audi TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines — from Stage 1 software to hardware-backed Stage 2, with matching S tronic gearbox files. Read the ECU in your workshop, upload the original through our panel, and get the modified file back the same day in most cases.

Which Audi engines respond best to remapping?

Turbocharged Audi engines — the EA888 TFSI petrol family and the EA288 and EA897 TDI diesels — respond best, because their factory calibrations leave clear headroom in boost, torque and fueling.

The 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI units of the EA888 family power a huge share of the A and Q ranges, and their map structures are among the best understood in the industry. On the diesel side, the EA288 2.0 TDI is the everyday workhorse, while the EA897 3.0 TDI V6 in the larger saloons and SUVs turns a Stage 1 file into a noticeably more muscular, more relaxed motorway car. The character of the result depends on engine, gearbox, fuel and hardware condition, so we describe what a calibration changes rather than promising a universal number.

The same architecture underpins much of the VW Group — if you work on these platforms, the Volkswagen guide and Cupra guide will look familiar.

How do we build a Stage 1 or Stage 2 file for a turbo Audi?

Stage 1 stays within the tolerances of standard hardware; Stage 2 is calibrated around the supporting modifications actually fitted to the car.

For Stage 1 we adjust boost targets, ignition or injection timing, torque structure and limiters in balanced proportion — no single map pushed to its edge. For Stage 2, the workshop lists the fitted parts (intake, intercooler, downpipe) when uploading, and the engineer builds the calibration around that exact combination. Stage 3 conversions with larger turbos are handled case by case.

The workflow is the same for every job: read the ECU with your master tool, upload the original through the file service, and receive the modified file in the panel — typically the same day during support hours. No auto-generated maps at any stage.

Should the S tronic gearbox be tuned with the engine?

Above Stage 1, yes — the TCU's own torque limiters will otherwise clamp what the engine file delivers.

Audi's dual-clutch gearboxes carry their own torque ceilings, shift strategy and clutch pressure tables. A matching TCU calibration raises those limiters in step with the engine file, sharpens shift speed, refines shift points in dynamic modes and can activate launch control where the hardware supports it. The result feels coherent: one calibrated drivetrain instead of a strong engine arguing with a cautious gearbox.

Audi TFSI vs TDI: how the calibration differs

Two fuels, two philosophies. The table shows where the engineering attention goes on each side.

Aspect TFSI petrol (EA888) TDI diesel (EA288 / EA897)
Core adjustments Boost targets, ignition timing, lambda, torque structure Injection quantity and timing, rail pressure, boost, torque limiters
Character of the result Sharper response, stronger top end A wide, effortless band of mid-range torque
Stage 2 hardware Intake, intercooler, downpipe Intercooler and freer-flowing exhaust; bigger turbos mean Stage 3
Gearbox pairing S tronic TCU file recommended above Stage 1 Same — diesel torque hits the TCU limiters first
Popular extras Pop & bang, hardcut, launch control EGR, DPF, AdBlue solutions (off-road only)

What do Audi workshops usually order?

Stage 1 remaps and S tronic TCU files lead by a wide margin, followed by Stage 2 packages and off-road emissions solutions for track and export cars. All of these come from the same service catalog:

Emissions compliance. EGR, DPF/FAP, AdBlue/SCR and similar deletions are intended exclusively for off-road, motorsport or export use. Deleting these systems on any road-registered vehicle is illegal in the EU and most other jurisdictions; the workshop or customer carries the responsibility for compliance.

Audi tuning FAQ

Do you supply TCU files for the Audi S tronic gearbox?

Yes. We calibrate the S tronic units used across the Audi range: torque limiters raised to match the engine file, faster shifts, refined shift points and launch control activation where the hardware supports it.

How do I send you an Audi ECU file?

Register at app.repromatronic.es, read the ECU with your master tool — KESS3, Flex, Autotuner, bFlash, New Genius and others are supported — and upload the original file. An engineer returns the modified calibration through the panel, typically the same day during support hours (8:00–22:00 CET).

Is Stage 1 suitable for a completely standard Audi?

Stage 1 is written precisely for standard cars: the calibration stays within the tolerance of stock hardware in good mechanical condition. If intake, intercooler or exhaust parts are fitted, tell us and request Stage 2 instead — the file will be built around them.
